There are tons of resources online to help you get that DIY project done. Whether it be leaky toilets, hanging a shelf or even finding a tradesman to tackle the job for you then there is plenty of free help available.

Here we showcase 10 websites (in no particular order we should add) that offer in depth tutorials, services, reviews and / or video to help you get that job done right.

This is a great resource we are ashamed to say we have only recently come across. Presented in a magazine format homebuilding.co.uk offers advice and opinion on all aspects of home builds – featuring house plans, building costs, house design, land for sale and even exibitions.

It features real life self-build projects undertaken by others and is laid out in an easy to navigate format. Good stuff.

9. http://www.about.com/

About.com is a valuable resource for content that helps people to solve the large and small needs of everyday life.

Boasting tons of articles, tutorials and videos as well as opinion and blog posts on everything from interior design to gardening. This is a vast resource when it comes to undertaking any task and well worth a nose.

Learn how to do just about everything at eHow.

With over 2 million videos (including those from recently acquired Expert Village) plus a supportive community ehow is fast becoming the world’s most popular place to find how-to videos, instructions and articles.

7. http://www.5min.com/

Looking for a how-to solution? Need a do it yourself question answered? Find short, practical how to videos, instructional videos and DIY solutions at 5min.com, the leading how-to site.

With tons of channels covering all sorts of different niches and topics there is enough content on 5min.com that it should take you considerably longer than 5 mins to check out!

6. http://www.diytutorials.co.uk/

diytutorials.co.uk is a collection of youtube hosted DIY video tutorials (aggregated using pseudotube).

Although sprinkled with annoying (and sometimes intrusive) ads and pseudotunes attempts to entice users to create their own video sites this site still has some great video content and is well worth checking out

5. http://www.videojug.com/

‘Get good at life’ is Videojugs moniker – and you certainly will if you frequent this site.

With thousands of videos, articles and answers freely available this is definitley one for the bookmarks.

Instructables claims to be the biggest how-to and DIY community where people make and share inspiring, entertaining, and useful projects, recipes, and hacks.

Covering a wide range of topics – from the practical to the down right wacky – instructables has something to fascinate, educate or even just amuse even the mosy enthusiastic DIYers out there.

Boasting thousands of professional quality how-to videos from experts across a wide range of fields this site is the place to go for guidance on a number of topics.

Lets Do DIY offers impartial DIY advice and tips on a wide range of topics.

Focused on the UK home improvement market and with a busy and active forum there is always someone on hand to give you to give you that little bit of advice or guidance you needed.
