Here comes the bribe…
Published by DIY Supplies on 14 March 2011 - No CommentsAccording to a recent survey more and more women in Britain are turning to bribery in order to get their men busy in and around the home.
The survey conducted by Bosch Power Tools claimed that British women are becoming tired of waiting for those all important jobs to be done, and are now bartering with their other halfs to speed up the process.
In return for some basic DIY blokes can expect to be granted permission to watch the football, skip family get togethers, pop out for a few beers with the lads and even buy expensive gadgets.
And it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the men either with most now flatly refusing to undertake jobs around the home without some kind of incentive.
“The idea of bartering for what we want is as old as the history of social interaction itself,” the Daily Express quoted psychologist Donna Dawson as saying.
“Taking this a step further by matching points to jobs and rewards appeals to our competitive natures. The reward becomes the goal and the job just happens to get done along the way,” she said.
When the man is rewarded he has the pleasure of knowing he earned it. “The battle of the sexes is an age-old phenomenon and both sides are canny enough to see the benefit of a little domestic bargaining,” Chris Tidy, DIY expert from Bosch, said.
